Length of stir bar depends on the flask base diameter. Normally, the stir bar length should be between 30 and 60% of the flask base diameter.
The diameter of the stir bar depends on the nature of the mixed solution. As the viscosity of the solution increases, the optimum diameter of the stir bar increases.
Speed of mixing also determines the optimum size of the stir bar; if a high mixing speed is required, smaller size stir bar should be used to reduce the vortex depth.
Please note that magnetic stirrers are more suitable for low and medium viscosity solutions. For high viscosity (thick) solutions, such as gels, mechanical (overhead) stirrers can be used.
Teflon is colorless and odorless. It is insoluble in water. Heavier than air. Dissolve in two open, ethanol. The limit of self ignition of unsaturated is 119% to 60% (volume), and the ignition temperature is only 180 ℃. When oxygen exists, it is easy to form unstable and explosive peroxides.
